We’re so not progressive!
November 21, 2007Late one night, ignoring my better judgement of going to bed before midnight, I decided to watch a documentary on TV. It was about rats. Yup, RATS.
At first I found them cute, I always find things cute even if other people find them repulsive and hideous (read: spiders, snakes, pusang napapanot, etc.) And yes I know their pests and I would gladly drive them out of our house one fly paper at a time, but not before I take a picture of them and post it in my gallery
But what really struck me about the documentary is when they featured the news bit about the new born baby fed upon by three huge rats in Pasay City. Apparently the mother left her baby to the care of her older child who in turn, went outside to play leaving the baby alone in their barong-barong. When the mother went up to check on her baby, she saw three huge rats nibbling (the news report says "pinapapak") on her baby's arm and legs!
Thank God that after 5 days at ICU, the baby got well naman. But I still can't get over the image of her arms and legs though, a whole chunk of flesh was missing! imagine kung ganu katagal siyang pinagpi-piyestahan ng mga daga to have that big a damage! Tapos the camera man decided to show the baby's face crying in pain pa!
To think na every time I browse through news papers eh I keep seeing a whole section dedicated to high end condos and villas, and that oh so convincing tv ad with "real" people declaring "Ramdam ko ang asenso!!!"
Stupid firewall!
November 16, 2007Flat screen lahat, but it can’t recognize a real pornographic site even if
it browsed through one.
Apperently for my school’s internet lab firewall, this blog of mine is
pornographic, same with i.Ph. This firewall issue has long been a problem of
internet users here at school, especially the medical science students with
anatomy subjects researching on the reproductive system.
Oh, well, good thing i.Ph have this post via email feature. This will be my
first blog post from my e-mail. Hope it works.
School is fine for me anyway, we have Medical Transcription as a subject
replacing the usual Computer Science subject of other courses. Ok sana kung
ok yung prof, unfortunately, he’s the only one in our university who knows
the subject matter, malas.
Pinas mentioned in Britney’s song

A few days ago, Hayden Panettiere of Heroes was in the news. She was in Japan with her friends to help stop the the illegal slaughter of dolphins which is apparently, hugely tolerated by the Japanese police.
Riding in their surfboards, they bravely paddled forward to prevent a group of dolphins from being lured into a trap. Unfortunately, a fishing boat reached the dolphins first and by the boats propellers and a boat hook, the rescuers were prevented to come nearer.
Fearing for their own safety, the surfers were forced to return to shore and leave the country quickly or else be arrested for trespassing. The news video showed the waters turning red with blood as the dolphins was slaughtered, Hayden and her friends apparently unsuccessful.
Naluha talaga ako nung napanood ko to. I really feel bad when I see things like these. We are way past our hunter-gatherer era, we have farms and food processing now. Killing an endangered animal is no longer a necessity, either for food, clothing, or whatever.
Kahit di man nila na-prevent, at least they were able to create awareness. I wish I could do something like this someday.
In the meantime, all I can do is this…
